Searching for Satoshi: The Mysterious Disappearance of the Bitcoin Creator

A global detective story for the digital age.

On January 3, 2009, the world’s greatest monetary invention was launched by a secretive character known by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. His masterpiece was the invention of Bitcoin, a “digital gold” many agree is the most innovative store of value ever created and has transformed the way money and currencies operate globally.

Yet Bitcoin’s origin story is largely unknown. So too is the story of how and why its clandestine creator simply vanished just 23 months after its inception and has not been heard from since early 2011. Did he die? Was he killed? Or did he just walk away on principle?

This timely and fascinating feature-length documentary explores and investigates five potential Satoshi candidates and takes an in-depth look at some of the clues he left behind to weigh up who he was and what his motives were.

Along with the premiere is a behind-the-scenes look at the doc with creator and producer Paul Kemp.
