Time: A Journey Through Thousands of Years

(Science/knowledge, 2×60 min.) In exploring the meaning of time, we consider human civilization and lifestyle, but also our understanding of life. In ancient times, man and nature coexisted, as humans followed the seasons, rainfall and sunlight to grow the produce we needed to survive. Since the Industrial Revolution, our pace has accelerated, and we began to see time as something that can be manipulated or changed. We long ago monetized time by dividing it into ever-smaller fragments to be incorporated in profit and loss calculations. This thought-provoking film traces how humans’ perception and measurement of time have changed and how different peoples, cultures and world views have altered our interpretations of time. Drawing on science and history, the film encourages us to focus on the present and contemplate how to cherish our time on this Earth and use it wisely.
